I came out of this movie feeling as if I knew Marjane Satrapi. The way in which the story is told is fantastic - it really is as if you're reading her journal. As she grows up from being a young girl to an adult, at each age the story is told with a corresponding maturity, and highlighting things which seem like very personal memories. As a young girl, the stories she is told are very black and white, and as she gets older the complexity increases, which is exactly what you would expect. Although there is lots of political activity, she makes fun of herself and highlights her own shortcomings as much as she highlights the repressive elements in her homeland. By telling of her own experiences it really is extremely easy to see how so much of it is common to a whole generation of Iranians. Her love of her family and her country came across very strongly, and you really felt as if she had laid herself bare. A moving and entertaining movie as much as it is educational about post-1979 Iran.

Bab'Aziz - The Prince Who Contemplated His Soul is the story of a blind dervish named Bab'Aziz and his spirited granddaughter, Ishtar. Η αλήθεια είναι ο μεγαλύτερος εχθρός της κάθε είδους εξουσίας. Η απόκρυψη και παραποίησή της ήταν και είναι ο τρόπος να κάνει τον λαό όχλο και έτσι να τον κινεί ανάλογα με τις ιστορικές συγκυρίες και ανάγκες της. Ο Θόδωρος Μαραγκός μέσα σε μία ώρα και κάτι καταφέρνει να μας δείξει πέρα από την αυθεντικότητα του ελληνικού πολιτισμού και ένα κομμάτι της αλήθειας που θάφτηκε εσκεμμένα και που είχε ως αποτέλεσμα την μετάλλαξη του Έλληνα ανθρώπου σε Έλληνα πρόβατο. Αυτό το πρόβατο που δεν ξέρει πια τι είναι, γιατί υπάρχει και έχει πλήρη άγνοια για το που οδηγείται . Αυτό το πρόβατο αν γνώριζε την Ιστορία που κουβαλάει, ακόμα και κατά τύχη, θα είχε βγει από το μαντρί του γραικυλισμού. Το ντοκιμαντέρ «Black Mπεε» που έκανε πολλούς εχθρούς, ειδικά από την θρησκευτική εξουσία όταν παρουσιάστηκε, είναι ένας καθρέπτης που μόνο όσοι έχουν την αντοχή να μάθουν την Αλήθεια μπορούν να το αντιμετωπίσουν ως θεατές Έλληνες.

Ένας αρχαίος Ελληνας φιλόσοφος, o Επίκουρος, έγραψε τον 1ο αιώνα μ.Χ., μία επιστολή προς τον Θοδωράκη τον νεοέλληνα. Όταν ο Θοδωράκης το μαθαίνει, ταξιδεύει στην Ιταλία και συγκεκριμένα στην περιοχή που βρέθηκε η επιστολή μαζί με 2000 ακόμα αρχαία ελληνικά κείμενα, για να την παραλάβει από τους Ιταλούς αρχαιολόγους.

Φθάνοντας εκεί, έκπληκτος διαπιστώνει ότι για την επιστολή, ενδιαφέρονται κι άλλοι που αναζητούν ιστορικές αλήθειες, ενώ κάποιοι άλλοι προσπαθούν να την εξαφανίσουν γιατί φοβούνται μην ανιχνεύει θρησκευτικά απόρρητα. Για την ίδια επιστολή όμως, ενδιαφέρεται κι ο Δημητράκης που έχει ψυχολογικά προβλήματα. Αυτός ουσιαστικά ψάχνει το παρελθόν του για να βρει τι ήταν, πριν μεταμορφωθεί σε πρόβατο...

Ένα ταξίδι στη Μεγάλη Ελλάδα της κάτω Ιταλίας και η περιπέτεια της ανακάλυψης των παπύρων του Ερκολάνο, που μας μεταφέρουν μέσα από τη στάχτη του Βεζούβιου, άγνωστα Επικούρεια κείμενα που μιλούν για τη μουσική και τον έρωτα. Η σχέση του νεοέλληνα με τους προγόνους του, η αντιμετώπιση του πατρώου πολιτισμού από το ελληνικό κράτος και οι ένοχοι για την πολιτιστική κατάντια του "γραικού".

Η έκφραση catch 22 στα αγγλικά δημιουργήθηκε από τον Joseph Heller στο ομώνυμο μυθιστόρημα του (1961) για να αποδώσει αυτό το λογικό παράδοξο που προκύπτει από μια κατάσταση στην οποία ένα άτομο χρειάζεται κάτι το οποίο μπορεί να αποκτήσει μόνο αν δεν βρίσκεται σε αυτή την κατάσταση. Η έκφραση χρησιμοποιείται κυρίως για κανόνες, κανονισμούς, διαδικασίες στις οποίες κάποιος έχει γνώση ότι είναι ή ότι γίνεται θύμα αλλά δεν έχει τη δύναμη να τις αποτρέψει.
